Team Grappling Division(s)

The Elite Federation Of Grapplers proudly presents a brand new division.....TEAM GRAPPLING!  This division is the first of it's kind!  There will be two different Team Grappling Divisions:  Three Man Teams & Mixed Doubles

Three Man Teams:

The three man teams will be made up of three male competitors of any weight from any school or organiztion (Note:  Each team is completely responsible for the organization of their team).  Each team is encouraged to have one captain or leader that will make decisions for the team.  The teams will be randomly matched up.  Once the teams are matched up, the judges will match up the fighters according to who is the CLOSEST in weight (Note:  The team divisions are open weight divisions, so you MAY be matched up with people outside of your weight class, depending on what the weights are of the competitors on the opposing team).  There will be a coin toss to decide who will have control of the first match, and then the opposite team will get an opportunity to control the second match.  The third match will be between the remaining two competitors (if necessary).

The matches will be decided based on points and/or submission.  Submissions beat out points, therefore if a competitor submits his opponent, the points are discarded for that match.  If the match does not end in submission, the competitor who has obtained the most points by the end of the round collects one win for their team.  If one team wins the first two matches, then there is no need for the third match, therefore the final match will not take place.  The team that wins 2 out of 3 matches wins and advances to the next round.

Mixed Doubles:

The mixed doubles teams will consist of one male and one female competitor from any weight class.  This division is an open weight division.  The judges will attempt to pair up the teams that are closest in weight FIRST, and then the teams will work their way through the bracket.  The same rules apply for this division as the three man teams division.  If one team wins the first two matches, then that team wins.  If each team has one win each after two matches, an additional coin toss will occur to decide which team will select a fighter for the tie breaker match (Example: The winner of the coin toss decides if the final match will be the males fighting one another, or the females fighting one another).  Under no circumstances will the men and women fight one another.  Each match will either be male versus male, or female versus female.

Note:  All of the divisions are open to kids/teens as well.  The fees are the same for the kids/teens teams (Three kid male teams, mixed double teams).  The kids/teens divisions will be seperate from the adult divisions.

Divisions:

The divisions will be seperated between Gi Teams, and No-Gi Teams  Competitors can participate in both the Gi Team Divisions and the No-Gi Team Divisions if they choose to do so.  A seperate fee is required to participate in both divisions (Gi Team and No-Gi Team).  There must be a minimum of two teams to run a division.

Fees:

The fees for the Team Events are listed below

Three Man Teams:  $75 per team ($25 per person)-If registered for individual event                                       $150 per team ($50 per person)-If not registered for individual event

Note:  If ALL competitors are NOT registered for an individual event at the tournament (Gi or No Gi) then the team must pay the higher rate (Example 2 people are registered for divisions at the tournament but one team member is not).

Awards:

The first place winners from each team will receive championship belts!  The second and third place winners will receive plaques.

All team divisions will be broken up by belt colors.  Intermixing belt colors are allowed ONLY if the opposing teams has a competitor of that belt color as well (Example-In three man teams, both teams have two white belts and one blue belt).  We will also allow intermixing of belt colors if ALL of the other teams agree/consent to this.

We are excited about the addition of this new division, and we hope that everyone participates in this fun, exciting, and unique event.  If this division is successful, the E.F.G. will be looking to incorporate this into each of it's tournaments as well as begin to rate it in the 2010 season!  Just remember, you saw it first on the Elite Federation Of Grapplers!  Don't be fooled by copycats or imitators!!!
